just wanted to say that this is by far one of my favorite answers on the topic. playing around with spirits can have long term detrimental effects & its not always about speaking in tongues, etc Thanks for sharing your story.

i've never messed with one.. i've always been too scared to even attempt to use a ouija board.

8 years ago, I was using one in my home (very stupid move on my part) and all heck broke loose. A few of the things that happened were, my 15 year old daughter would come running out of her room screaming, shaking uncontrollably, sobbing because she saw the spirit of a small boy in her mirror..3 times. My 6 year old son began having horrible night terrors, every night. My 4 year old son would start talking to someone that wasnt there, I would ask him who he was talking to and to and he would say "the man" and point at nothing. My husband would experience being held down on the bed by a black shadow and then he would see an 8 ft. tall black crow with a skeleton face and red eyes. I heard the most hideous, gutteral, growl, come from the ouija board when I was reaching for something on the shelf below it. We would hear scratching on the walls....etc. etc. These are only a few of the many things we experienced. I could fill a book with everything that happened. I finally got rid of the board and blessed the house and everything stopped and returned to normal. BTW I had bought that board at Kmart. = /

I've always been curious, but never brave enough to try one. I've heard nothing but negative about them. I do wonder though if gathering EVP's and talking with the spirits at a location could invoke any wandering bad energies. Could having an active interest in the paranormal actually put a person on the "supernatural radar" and attract whatever energy is passing through??

I have used it when I was younger and I would NEVER recommend it unless you have someone who knows how to use it, protect it & you and close it when you are done. You wouldn't start play with fireworks without knowing how to use them.

It can be very dangerous...I can't believe they sell it in Walmart!

Attracting whatever energy is passing through may happen via investigations, though one is more likely to interact with whatever spirit resides in a place.

The difference is this....

With a Ouija board, you are opening yourself up to essentially BE POSSESSED by whatever spirit/entity you are attempting to contact. You are surrendering your free will over your own body to be used by another, as you place your finger on the planchette and allow them to use your body/energy to manifest/communicate.

With evp's and other investigative techniques, at no time are you surrendering your will over your own body or any aspect of yourself. The potential communication/evidence one may receive will be via an external source, whether it is from physical objects being moved, recordings, or manifestations. At NO time does any intelligent investigator surrender themselves in any way to any spirit/entity.

Some may disagree, and we can all agree to disagree. LOL! But for myself, I'd just prefer to not take the chance.
